Soapwort Shampoo Recipe

Soapwort is naturally soapy, as the name implies. If you rub the leaves on your skin you can feel how soapy it is. It cleans just as well without the froth!

Ingredients
500ml Water
2 tsp Fresh Soapwort Root, roughly chopped(or 1 tsp of dried root, soaked overnight)
2 tsp Nettles or Rosemary leaves, chopped (use gloves when handling fresh nettles)
4 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Lavender or Rosemary)
Equipment

Saucepan
Hob
Sieve
Muslin or Paper Towel
Teaspoon
Gloves (if using fresh nettles)
Bottles (makes approx. 400ml due to evaporation)

Method

1. Place Soapwort and Nettles or Rosemary in pan of Water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes.

2. Cool and strain through a piece of muslin or a paper towel in a sieve.

3. Add Essential Oils.

4. Pour the shampoo into bottles.

How to use: Use a cupful each time you wash your hair. Keep the rest in the fridge for up to a week or in the freezer if you want it to last longer.
